Cabela’s veteran to lead Batteries Plus Bulbs
Batteries Plus Bulbs has a new CEO.
The niche retailer appointed Scott Williams as the company’s new CEO, effective January 2, 2019. He will take the reins from current interim CEO Tom O’Hare, who previously served as the retailer’s chief operating officer. O’Hare will continue to be involved with the company as a board member, advisor, and shareholder.
Williams has spent over 25 years in retail and e-commerce where he held senior management positions with leading companies. Williams comes to Batteries Plus Bulbs from Cabela’s, where has had an six-year tenure in positions of increasing responsibility and leadership. Most recently, he was president of Cabela’s. Prior to that, he was executive VP and chief commercial officer. He joined the company as chief marketing officer.
Prior to Cabela’s, Scott served as president at Fanatics; corporate VP and general manager for Samsclub.com, senior VP of OfficeMax’s direct business segment and OfficeMax.com. He was also market manager for PepsiCo.
Batteries Plus Bulbs is owned by Freeman Spogli, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles and New York City.
