A veteran retailer who spent nearly 22 years at Target has joined the PetSmart team.

The pet supply and services chain named Stacia Anderson as executive VP of merchandising and customer experience. She will oversee all functions of merchandising including buying and sourcing, proprietary brands and planning and allocation, as well as all areas of marketing including brand strategy, creative, digital, loyalty, and CRM.

Andersen joins PetSmart from Abercrombie & Fitch, which she joined in June 2016 as brand president, leading the rebuilding and transformation of all aspects of the Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie kids brands.

Previously, Andersen was with Target, which she joined in 1994, working her way up to hold various leadership roles, most recently (2014 - 2015) as senior VP of merchandising, apparel and accessories.

"Stacia is an innovative and inspiring retail veteran with a track record of delivering exceptional results across diverse business categories," said J.K. Symancyk, president and CEO, PetSmart. "We continue to focus on putting the customer at the center of everything we do, and we're confident that Stacia is the right leader to strengthen our customer-facing strategy and maximize our merchandising and marketing functions."

PetSmart operates more than 1,650 pet stores in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, as well as more than 200 in-store PetSmart PetsHotel dog and cat boarding facilities.
