A.C. Moore names new CEO

A.C. Moore is keeping things in the family.

The arts-and-crafts specialty retailer announced the appointment of Anthony Piperno, formerly president and chief marketing and merchandising officer, as president and CEO. As chief executive, he succeeds his father, Pepe Pipero, who will transition to the role of chairman and continue to provide the company with industry expertise, guidance and strategic insight gained during his five decades in the craft industry.

Since joining the company in 2005, Anthony Piperno has led A.C. Moore's merchandising team, overseeing product development, global sourcing and store operations. Under his leadership, the company announced two major investments; the acquisition of online arts and craft retailer Blitsy, and a major investment and exclusive partnership with handcraft marketplace Zibbet.

"Anthony is a proven leader who possesses a deep understanding of our business, the industry, and the needs of our customers," said Pepe Piperno. "As president and CMMO, he has brought consistent forward-thinking success to the company. I am beyond proud of Anthony's accomplishments and am very excited to pass the torch and watch him drive the company we love to the next level."

Founded in 1985 and based in Moorestown, N.J., A.C. Moore operates 142 locations nationwide.
