The addition of Colombia to AWS Marketplace allows Colombian partners to gain a new market route, reaching global buyers of AWS Marketplace.

Amazon is expanding its web services business into a major South American country.

The retail giant’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace now enables customers in Colombia to discover and purchase solutions from independent software vendors (ISVs) and channel partners, including reseller and systems integrators. Amazon says the expansion aims to increase the variety of software and data offerings, adding to the more than 20,000 listings of solutions and data products from over 5,000 sellers.

The addition of Colombia to AWS Marketplace allows Colombian partners to gain a new market route, reaching global buyers of AWS Marketplace. Vendors can sell various types of cloud software, offering flexible pricing models, based on consumption and multi-year agreements.

Colombia is the first country in Latin America where local technology providers can offer their solutions in AWS Marketplace, making it easier for customers to find and deploy third-party software and data products to build on AWS. AWS Marketplace will continue to be operated by Amazon Web Services, Inc., with all transactions conducted in U.S. dollars.

"The addition of Colombia to AWS Marketplace marks a significant milestone in our expansion strategy, as well as our long-term commitment to the country," said Daniel Saldarriaga, country manager of AWS Colombia. "This move opens new opportunities in the growth of the LATAM market and expands the reach and selection of AWS Marketplace by leveraging Colombia's digital economy. In this way, it helps local providers advance in their partnership with AWS, creating a path to join important AWS Partner Programs such as ISV Accelerate (ISV-A) to increase visibility and growth.”

AWS helps drive successful Amazon Q3

AWS Marketplace’s Colombian expansion comes after a strong third quarter for Amazon. The e-tailer reported increases across all its divisions with sales at Amazon Web Services increasing 19% year-over-year to $27.5 billion.

Net income rose to $15.3 billion, or $1.43 per share, in the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared to $9.9 billion, or $0.94 per share, in the year-ago period. Net sales increased 11% to $158.9 billion, ahead of estimates of $157.29 billion.
