Skechers app bridges physical and digital retailing

9/28/2016

Skechers now allows shoppers to manage their shopping experience from the palm of their hand.

As millennial and post-millennial consumers demand more convenient, informative, and streamlined shopping experiences, the footwear retailer launched a new mobile app designed to streamline navigation and pur-chases — both for e-commerce and within Skechers retail stores — in a centralized way. Available for Apple and Android mobile devices, Skechers’ mobile app gives U.S. shoppers access to available inventory; one-touch checkout options through with Apple Pay and Android Pay; a store locator, and a barcode search that helps shopper easily find and or-der product styles, sizes and colors that might not be available in the store.

The app also features proximity notifications for offers and events in nearby stores, as well as access to their Skechers Elite account where they can track points and redeem rewards either within the app or in retail stores. It also features a social media component that encourages fans to share personal product images to Instagram. These images are curated and displayed in the “ShopIG” section of the app, where shoppers can also order posted merchandise.

“The new app will allow us to better reach and connect with the younger demographic of our fan base both on-the-go and through stronger interac-tive elements in our brick-and-mortar retail stores,” said Michael Green-berg, president of Skechers. “By encouraging engagement, we hope to drive excitement, and make it easy for men and women to purchase that ‘perfect pair’ when they discover it online or out in the world.”
