Sears steers Uber’s rewards program

9/28/2016

Sears is hitching a ride with Uber — and inviting its loyal shoppers along.

A new program, called Rider Rewards, is designed to award Sears shoppers for using Uber’s ride service. Customers that link their Sears Shop Your Way loyalty plan to their Uber account will earn $2 in loyalty points for every Uber trip they take. Besides points, the loyalty program also tailors deals to members. Drivers can also take advantage of the program, and earn up to $1,000 in certain markets.

Meanwhile, the program also positions Sears’ Auto Centers as one of Uber's preferred maintenance providers, according to a company statement.

"Just as Uber uses technology to connect riders and drivers and revolutionized an industry, we're using technology to surround our members with more opportunities to earn points and add value to their membership, whether they're in a store, online or on-the-go,” said Leena Munjal, senior VP, customer experience and integrated retail, Sears Holdings.

The Rider Rewards program is currently available in Chicago and New York City, the statement said.
