David’s Bridal future-proofs in-store network
In effort to protect its organization from potential data breaches and prepare for the delivery of new omnichannel services, David’s Bridal is modernizing its failover network.
Operating more than 300 stores the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Puerto Rico, as well as digital channels, David’s Bridal knows the pitfalls that data bottlenecks, or worse, a network failure can cause, including costly downtime, missed revenue, or network intrusions. These factors prompted the chain to transition to a new network that could improve connectivity, protect corporate assets, support new services, centralize network management, and reduce operational costs.
The chain added a centralized cloud-based LTE platform from Cradlepoint that will deliver modernized failover services, provide the bandwidth needed to add new services seamlessly across the network, and overall, save the company “hundreds of man-hours of labor and downtime,” a company statement said.
“We were looking for an all-in-one solution that could address all of the challenges our network was facing, and provide necessary assistance that is required in the event of a network breach or failure,” said Kevin Weaver, director of infrastructure, David’s Bridal. “The [platform] allowed us to upgrade all of our devices simultaneously with the click of a button. If a threat arises on the network, now we can address it immediately.”
By updating and managing the entire network at one time, the retailer immediately gained real-time visibility of network and data usage, and store-level and network data can be accessed through a user-friendly interface. Centralized management also allows David’s Bridal to adjust bandwidth for voice-over IP (VoIP), customer WiFi, and point-of-sale (PoS) systems at any store in real-time, enabling the retailer to respond immediately to individual store’s bandwidth requirements. The flexibility of LTE will enable David’s Bridal to add new services or applications easily, without purchasing additional hardware.
