Report: Amazon starting Black Friday early

Amazon is reportedly running a three-week early Black Friday online sales event beginning Oct. 26.

According to TameBay, the e-tail giant will offer Black Friday deals from Monday, Oct. 26 through Thursday, Nov. 19. Each week will feature discounts on different products, with sale prices available to all consumers and not just Prime members.

Seller submission deadlines for Early Black Friday deals start Oct. 19 for the first week and end Nov. 2 for the third week. Amazon is also taking seller submissions for the traditional dates of Black Friday (Nov. 27) and Cyber Monday (Nov. 30).

October may also see Amazon hosting a delayed version of its two-day Prime Day annual sales extravaganza that is usually held mid-July. In July, the e-tailer confirmed it will be postponing Prime Day this year as it works to keep up with increased demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure worker safety.

In confirming the postponement, Amazon said only that Prime Day will be held “later than usual.” However, CNBC reported Amazon told third-party sellers to use the week of Oct. 5 as a “placeholder date” for Prime Day promotions and coupons.

The Home Depot has officially announced it is reinventing Black Friday by extending its prices throughout the season, starting in early November and lasting throughout December. The deals will be available in-store and online.
