eBay partners with FedEx to ease Canadian shipping

FedEx Express
eBay is opening access to FedEx shipping labels for its Canadian sellers.

eBay is integrating a key solution from FedEx directly into its Canadian online marketplace.

Canadian eBay sellers now have access to FedEx shipping services directly through the eBay Labels proprietary label printing solution. eBay Labels is an on-platform label printing solution designed to help sellers manage their shipping label needs on eBay without having to create individual accounts with shipping couriers.

As a result, eBay intends to provide its Canadian sellers a seamless, on-platform link to FedEx domestic and international shipping tools and services, with preferential rates.

With eBay Labels, all required information to print a label, such as buyer address and contact information, is automatically pre-filled. Tracking numbers for buyers are automatically added to orders on eBay.

eBay sellers can purchase a new label on a desktop computer or on the mobile app, and can print multiple labels in bulk. For multiple orders to the same buyer, eBay sellers can save money by purchasing and printing only one shipping label instead of multiple labels by using a "Combine" feature. This feature updates on eBay's end as well, automatically informing customers.

FedEx streamlines delivery for retailers
This new eBay-FedEx partnership represents the latest step by FedEx to help retailers fulfill, ship and service e-commerce orders as seamlessly as possible. In March 2022, FedEx built upon the collaboration it launched with Microsoft Corp. in May 2020 to integrate its network intelligence with capabilities from the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP/CRM platform to introduce a cross-platform “logistics as a service” for retailers, merchants and brands.

Now, the two companies plan to introduce a data integration, combining data insights from FedEx with the Dynamics 365 intelligent order management module. Expected to be available for U.S. customers later this year, the Microsoft Dynamics 365 intelligent order management solution uses data and artificial intelligence (AI) to create an omnichannel order management application that integrates with existing ERP and CRM systems.

"Providing an exceptional selling experience to the hundreds of thousands of Canadians that leverage our global marketplace remains a top priority for eBay, and FedEx is key in delivering on this experience," said Robert Bigler, GM, eBay Canada. "With this extended FedEx alliance, we're making shipping even easier and more cost-effective for our eBay sellers, which in turn allows them to bring the best value and service to our marketplace."

"FedEx enjoys a strong alliance with eBay," said Lisa Lisson, president of FedEx Express Canada. "FedEx and eBay share a commitment to helping our Canadian customers, including thousands of small and medium businesses, expand through innovation, growth, and e-commerce. We are excited to see how these enhancements improve our customers' fulfillment needs so they can continue to drive their business forward."

Founded in 1995 in San Jose, California, eBay Inc. operates in more than 190 markets around the world. In 2021, eBay enabled over $87 billion of gross merchandise volume. FedEx Corp. provides a global portfolio of transportation, e-commerce and business services, with annual revenue of $92 billion.
