Whole Foods will open a store in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood in June.

Whole Foods Market continues to expand in the Big Apple — and in cities in general.

The grocer will open a 54,000-sq.-ft. store in Manhattan’s NoMad (North of Madison Square Park) neighborhood on June 1. The opening follows Whole Foods’ debut earlier this month in a high-rise building on Chicago’s North Side and the March opening of a flagship in San Francisco.

In a nod to nearby New York landmarks such as the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, the upcoming NoMad store has a metropolitan look and feel. The assortment will emphasize locally-sourced offerings, including organic produce grown at more than 20 farms in the region and more than 1,000 items procured from NYC-area makers.

Other features will include a prepared foods section with a food hall feel that includes hot and cold food bars, sushi and a full-service pizza station.

The store will offer several on-site dining options, including Za’atar, a quick-service Mediterranean venue with locally sourced falafel and pitas; Nomad 63 by Whole Foods Market, a bar offering beer, wine, and bar bites; and a full-service coffee bar operated by New York fave Café Grumpy.

To give back to the New York City community, Whole Foods Market will donate $9,000 and an array of fresh food to Rethink Food, an organization dedicated to creating a more sustainable and equitable food system by rethinking the way food is produced and distributed.

Whole Foods will also sponsor the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s Pollinator Picnic, which is dedicated to celebrating native North American pollinators. Additionally, the company will support the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District’s public art and fitness programming with a $15,000 donation and a flower wall pop-up event with influencer @farmernick.
