Report: Amazon seeking to grow healthcare offering

Amazon is reportedly hiring a business development team for its Amazon Care employee telehealth service.

According to CNBC, the e-tail giant is posting openings for six business development roles focused on relationships with “commercial and public sector enterprises.” Amazon initially piloted Amazon Care as an omnichannel health service for employees in fall 2019, and expanded full access to the service to all employees at its Seattle headquarters in February 2020.

CNBC also reports that Amazon Care is having “exploratory” discussions with other companies located in Washington. According to the Amazon Care website, the service is designed to be a “first stop” healthcare provider for urgent issues such as colds, allergies, infections, and minor injuries. Amazon Care can also provide preventative heath consults, vaccines and lab work; sexual health services such as contraception and sexually transmitted infection testing; and answers to general family health questions.
