Laura Mercier is expanding its metaverse commerce presence using augmented/virtual reality from Apple.

In December 2022, Laura Mercier opened World of Beauty, its first virtually experiential e-commerce presence. Working with immersive shopping platform and Apple visionOS developer Obsess, the company utilizes web-based virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to offer an HD-quality, 3D and 360-degree metaverse experience.

Now, Laura Mercier is building on its partnership with Obsess to roll out a beauty shopping app for Apple Vision Pro, which is controlled by a user's eyes and hands and offered via the App Store.

Laura Mercier's new Apple Vision Pro-enabled app experience allows users to shop and explore products by category and also features shoppable videos and interactive, ultra-high-definition 3D unboxing experiences.

Inside the app, shoppers can seamlessly explore Laura Mercier products while immersed in their choice of metaverse settings, such as a New York boutique or a Parisian design studio.

The content hub inside the app showcases high-fidelity shoppable videos optimized for Apple Vision Pro. Visitors can watch expert tutorials featuring Laura Mercier's latest products, which they can then seamlessly purchase directly within the app.

Laura Mercier also leverages an AR foundation try-on option based on Google technology. Consumers can search for a foundation type or name, select a product they are interested in and tap “try on” to see what the shade looks like on a virtual model or their own image.
