The center that was named the Boston metro’s “Best Shopping Complex” of 2022 by Boston Magazine appears ready to make a go for the award again in 2024.

The Street Chestnut Hill in Newton, Mass., not far from the Boston College campus, is a 640,000-sq.-ft. project that gave the region its first Shake Shack and further invigorated the neighborhood with a far-reaching list of tenants that include Aquitane, Pottery Barn, Lululemon, Nike, The Container Store and Showcase Superlux Cinema.

Owner WS Development this week announced a list of 14 new tenants that will occupy 27 Boylston, an ongoing redevelopment of 90,000 sq. ft. on the property. Fitness, fashion, food, and flowers lead the lineup that includes the health-forward café Pink Carrot, the sauna and cold plunge studio SweatHouz, the low-impact Pilates gym [solidcore] and Winston Flowers.

“This mix of fourteen brands is really fun and was thoughtfully planned by our team,” said Alana Stein, WS’s director of asset strategy & experience. “We can’t wait for the community to experience these new offerings, in addition to the impeccably designed building layout.”

27 Boylston was designed by the Sasaki architecture and design firm along with WS’s in-house design team of Jared Ramsdell and Morella Garofalo. They reimagined the existing structure using masonry, metal, wood and enlarged windows.

An elevated walkway will wrap around the building to a second level of retail shops and a 64-foot bridge will transport guests through a tree canopy to the property’s southern façade. The overhang of the original structure--which faces Newton’s Hammond Pond--will be modified to allow light infiltration and sky views.

A spring-summer 2024 opening is planned for 27 Boylston, whose tenants will also include Arc'Teryx; Brilliant Earth; Marine Layer; M.M.LaFleur; New England OBGYN Associates; Reformation; Roller Rabbit; Skin Laundry and Wheat.

Massachusetts-based WS Development owns and operates more than 100 urban spaces and lifestyle and community centers totaling 22 million square feet.
