Caruso appoints chief marketing and communications officer

Los AngelesCaruso Affiliated has appointed Judy Johnson to the newly created post of chief marketing and communications officer. In her new role, Johnson will support the company’s expanding portfolio of projects throughout California and oversee marketing, public relations, strategic alliances and entertainment initiatives.



A 30-year veteran of the communications and marketing industry, Johnson comes to Caruso Affiliated after 17 years with GolinHarris, a full-service communications firm. Most recently, she served as president of operations west of the company’s Chicago headquarters. Her responsibilities included managing staff, senior client accounts, business development and operations for offices in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Francisco. She also served on the GolinHarris global management team.



Prominent clients included Amazon, Cold Stone Creamery, Cunard Line, Disney, Disneyland and Downtown Disney, Farmer John, Forest City Development, Las Vegas Sands Corp., McDonald’s, The Ritz-Carlton, Toyota and others.



The appointment comes at a significant time in the evolution of Caruso Affiliated. With the goal of doubling the size of the company in five years, Caruso is currently re-imagining street-front retail in Brentwood, Calif. and Pacific Palisades, Calif. In addition, the company is spearheading one of the largest retail developments in Carlsbad, Calif. Several other retail projects are in the words as well.



On the hospitality side, Caruso Affiliated is planning The Miramar Beach Resort and Bungalows, a luxury resort property in Montecito, Calif. The company is also developing plans for high-rise mixed-use projects in Los Angeles.
