Meijer Employee Union Approves Contract

Grand Rapids, Mich., Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951 on Monday approved a new four-and-a-half year contract with Meijer Inc.

Nearly 12,000 Meijer workers voted on the contract by mail; 80% voted in favor.

The new contract includes “several wage increases” and “a defined benefit pension plan for both active and future Meijer workers,” Local 951 president Marv Russow said in a statement.

Local 951, which is based in Grand Rapids, represents about 30,000 grocery workers at various chains statewide.
